3rd XI Match Report - 3/7/22

Justin Gray, 3rd XI Captain, tells us the story of his team's impressive victory at Stourbridge.

The 3rd XI did well to chase down 166 on an unpredictable track at The Green Field. Having won the toss and inserted Stourbridge, we bowled and fielded well. Noah Ward on his debut bowled 2 good spells. Harry Shaw took a caught and bowled that saw him move faster than anyone had ever seen before on a cricket pitch. Pete Dickenson bowled a good length and took 2 more wickets to add to his tally for the season. Aryan Jagadesh, playing for the first time this season, bowled well as did Jamie MacKenzie. Chris MacKenzie, having been delayed for a couple of hours, finished the innings with a 3 over cameo.

In reply, we weathered the early loss of Olly Dix and then enjoyed a series of partnerships that kept us in the game. Neil Meredith was desperately unlucky to be given out lbw on the front leg a long way down the track on a pitch where the ball span consistently. At that point, the match was in the balance but a brilliant century partnership between Ayran Jagadesh and Chris MacKenzie saw us home comfortably.
